Welcome! I’m Jessica and the lady behind the site. Here you’ll find posts about my passions – family, motherhood, technology and sharing life authentically.
My other half and I have been married for over 17 years and have been parents for almost as long. A whole two months after we got married I got pregnant with our first child – while the hubs was still in college, mind you. And that, friends, is when all of the craziness began.
We have five kiddos – three who came to us the old fashioned way, and two we adopted from Africa in 2011. That gave us 5 kids, 5 years old and younger, in our first 6 years of marriage – thus the blog’s name. I bet you saw that one coming.
I have bipolar disorder, AKA manic depression, which I write about from time to time. Thankfully I have a great doctor, effective medications, a super understanding family and a big God. The first four years we had kids in school, I homeschooled them, but when our youngest was starting kindergarten, we moved to a new town and put everyone in public school. Since then we have done all sorts of combinations of public, homeschool, charter and back again. We like to keep it interesting around here. We have found that each kiddo is unique and has different needs in different seasons.
Currently, I have a Coton de Tulear, though one day I dream of having a field full of llamas of my very own. And a hired hand to take care of them, of course.
So, thanks for visiting! I hope while you’re here you’ll laugh, maybe learn something, and if depression is a part of your story, know that there are others who walk the same road.
