I can’t remember how much detail I went into about our court hearings, but the judge wanted one other paper for Hope’s case. Something to do with when she was removed from her mother. The babies home administrator wanted us to have that paper before we went to the US Embassy to check in. Well, yesterday the babies home manager (William) received the paper and sent it to our lawyer in Kampala. It seems like that shouldn’t be a problem, but in Uganda you never know if you’re going to find the right person to get the right document.
William said that the lawyer is going to look it over, and then we can go to the Embassy on Tuesday and turn in our file. At that point, the Embassy can start the orphan investigations on both children. Then Thursday we are scheduled to get our written ruling from the judge, which we will take to the Embassy to complete our file. We will also be able to schedule our Visa appointment at that time. I’m not sure how far out they will schedule the appointment, but I’m hoping just a few days. Assuming our appointment goes well (meaning the embassy doesn’t request any further information or investigations), we should get the children’s Visas a few days later.
The final steps in our process here in Uganda are obtaining the children’s passports and Visas. We can get the passports without a problem once we have the written rulings. The Visas are the step where people have gotten stuck. Lord willing, things will run smoothly for us, but there is no guarantee that they will. Thankfully, we have the guarantee that the Lord is in control, and no matter how things turn out, He is still running the show, and He is still good. 🙂
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
“LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:5-8
Praying for yall! I check this everyday to get your updates. So happy to see how God is working!
