Yes….I really did title this post that. I’ve been on the computer in lots of my ‘child-free’ time lately, working on various projects. My parents are realtors, and I’ve been working to revamp their website. (My sister has taken over that project since she’s working for them right now.) I’ve also been working on a site for a side business my mom and I have schemed up. My HTML skills are pretty rusty, and most everyone is using CSS now to make sites prettier, so needless to say I’ve had a lot of studying to do. Jeff turned me on to DotNetNuke, which is an open source (free) web application framework for developing websites. I highly recomend it if you don’t have a ton of web experience. It’s been really helpful for me.
One thing I’ve been studying alot is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). That basically just means how to optimize your site in a way that search engines deem it valuable and therefore give it high placement in search results. Good placement = more traffic to your site. HTMLgoodies.com has an excellent article on SEO, and Google webmaster tools are invaluable if you work on any websites. Google actually provides a good deal of information on how to best optimize your site and content. It has been really interesting reading for me.
I’m considering taking a continuing education class at CCCC this Summer on some Internet technologies, and of course, Jeff was more than supportive. He’s just happy he has someone to geek out with now. 🙂
You could at least have posted a picture of your girls! If I'm going to have to learn (such as what free source and SEO mean) then at the end I at least want to be rewarded with a cute picture! Hey, when are we going to see you guys again?
