While we were in Oklahoma for our little family weekend before my sister Ashlee left for HI, Jeff and I took the girls to Arbuckle Wilderness. Now, ever since I was a little girl and saw the commercials for this place, I have wanted to go. Because of this, I figured Maya would share my facination with animals who walk up to your car and lick your windows. She did not. The first animal to approach our car (as if it were a dinner plate, I might add) was an extremely tall camel. Now, camels are large to us adults, so I can imagine to little Maya it seemed like a monster. She was riding in my lap, and as soon as the camel came close, she began trying to crawl up me and into the back seat. Jeff said that it probably didn’t help that I had squealed with excitement, which Maya probably interpreted as a shriek of fear.
Okay, so the llama picture is because they are my favorite animal, and I was so excited to see some. They really are very cute. Jeff thinks they are dumb looking, but I must disagree. To sum up our visit to the animal park, Maya enjoyed seeing the small animals, but the big ones scared her. Her favorite part was throwing the little food pellets out the window, mostly when there weren’t any animals around. Jeff decided that we had really gone there for me because I had the most fun of anyone. Of course, Olivia snoozed in the backseat. Jeff really is the sweetest hubby and daddy. He’s always up for anything to make his girls happy. 🙂
I am so sorry that Maya does not seem to share your love for the lamma species. Do you remember how much you loved them when we lived down High Rd. That was sort of a bizzarre Jessica fetish for a while 🙂 Endearing, yet bizarre!
