Jeff informed me that this is what I should rename my blog. He thinks “The Stuff No One Ever Talks About” would be a much more fitting name than Five in Six. It made me laugh because lately that is a pretty accurate description. I just don’t do the whole ‘fake’ thing, you know. In fact, that is probably my number one pet peeve. Besides just being really annoying and requiring everyone around you to act like they actually believe the front you put up, it doesn’t help anyone. Picture perfect stories with all of the real life carefully edited out only cause envy and self-deprecation. Every mom alive already deals with mom guilt without ever having laid her eyes on a single mom blog.
So, I like to lay everything out there and deal in reality. When we live in the real, instead of in the ideal, it allows us to honestly work through issues and hopefully help out each other along the way. Thus my blog is filled with the stuff that no one ever talks about.
First, I tackled the difficulty and struggles of adoption. Next topic: Mental Illness. Touchy, touchy – I know. Check out my next post for details.
Total Side note: You may have noticed the slight makeover of my blog. I actually think my old design was prettier, but I needed more room, and that background constrained by space. Maybe one day I’ll actually pay for a pretty design, but until then, you’re stuck with my meager graphics skills. Sorry.
This is the first post in a four part series. The second post is “Life As A Roller Coaster.”
