Day 7 in Uganda

Apr 19, 2011 · by Jessica Hewitt

Today was another great day.  It was market day at the babies home, which means all the staff can bring items they made up to work to sell.  I bought quite a bit.  Jeff was a good sport in the process.  🙂  I bought a bag, some aprons, some wall art, an African doll and lots of beaded jewelry.  It was really pretty stuff and a great way to support the staff.  After we left, I realized I should have taken pictures, but it was too late at that point.

On the way back to the guest house, we passed these two women.  You can’t tell from the picture, but the stacks of wood on top of these women’s heads are at least 5 feet long.  They were very sweet to let me take their picture.  One of the women even had a baby strapped on her back.  It is amazing the things that women carry on their heads here.

Here is a picture of Hope with her mama at the babies home, Elizabeth.  Elizabeth is so, so sweet and has cared for Hope wonderfully.

Henry in his new hat.  He is always taking things out of this bag and then putting them back in.
